Our community investment program is just one of the tools in our overall approach that allows our company to give back by encouraging teamwork in the workplace or giving a hand-up to someone or organization in need. We proudly support organizations such as Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations, Men’s Health (Movember), Polytechnic schools and local food banks.
SMS Equipment has identified five investment pillars that focus on giving back while aligning with our broader sustainability goals to fulfill our commitment.
Regional biodiversity, natural resource projects, water & waste management, climate action, environmental protection, donations and volunteer activities for disaster support etc.
Early childhood development, innovation and creativity, diversity, skills and training, etc.
Mental health, family health, children’s health, community safety, etc.
Creating opportunities for emerging artists, local and regional arts, major artistic institutions, heritage opportunities, amateur sports and recreation opportunities, etc.
Supporting strategic alliances, development of partnerships, community-driven initiatives, learning, cultural awareness, etc.
Guidelines and Application Process
Our Community Investment Program provides the funding entities with the company’s charitable contributions. The program approves and allocates funding for organizations and events in an equitable manner in communities where we operate.
Sponsorship opportunities are supported locally. SMS Equipment chooses to sponsor those organizations that align with company guidelines and values.
Organizations seeking funds are asked to submit an application form:To be considered, the application must clearly state information on the event/project including a brief description of the project, the project/event dates, the specific amount requested, who the project will benefit, and how SMS Equipment will be recognized for its contribution.
All applications must be received in writing by e-mail to smscommunity@smsequip.com. We kindly request no phone calls. Applications are reviewed promptly, and we endeavor to respond to all applications within six weeks of the application date, however the company does not respond to form letters.
